Downright Perfect is creating an empowered community to enrich the lives of children and young people with Down syndrome in Dorset.
We support families from the moment they get their child's diagnosis and beyond through a variety of services which aim to support development, facilitate access to professional advice, provide access to a network of peer support and improve knowledge and awareness of key issues among the professionals who support our members and the wider community.


WHAT WE DO
New & Expectant Parent Support
Dedicated volunteer supporting new and expectant parents who are adjusting to their child's diagnosis
Pre-Schoolers Group
Twice monthly term time groups for 0 - 5 year old children with Down syndrome with regular visits from professionals to provide advice to parents
Financial Grants
Financial grants to help towards the cost of therapies such as physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy and music therapy or the purchase of resources to support development.
Speech & Language Programme
Support and training for schools and nurseries as well as individual child observations and advice offered in partnership with our consultant specialist Speech & Language Therapist, Amanda Griffiths.
Parent Counselling
Financial assistance for parents who would like to access private counselling services.
New Baby Hospital Packs
Packs of information and goodies distributed by local maternity units to new parents who have had a baby with Down syndrome
Day trips & events
Regular social events for young people with Down syndrome of any age and their families to build connections with peers in a safe judgment free environment
Parent Workshops
Information and peer support workshops for parents and carers.
Professional training & development
Midwifery training programme on a parent's perspective of receiving a diagnosis.

Bespoke awareness sessions for professionals working with people with Down syndrome.
Healthcare Liaison
Dedicated volunteer to assist with communication between families and healthcare services with a view to helping parents provide feedback.
