PRE-SCHOOLERS GROUP

We hold meet ups for 0 to 5 year olds with Down syndrome every 2 weeks during term time.

Our groups take place at;

Trinity Methodist Church

Southbourne Road

Bournemouth

BH6 5AQ

Throughout the year we arrange for experts to come into our groups to provide advice to parents including physiotherapists, speech & language therapists, music therapists and portage workers from the local authority.

Siblings who are under 5 are welcome to join.

FINANCIAL GRANTS FOR THERAPIES & RESOURCES

There is a huge amount of benefit to be gained by children with Down syndrome accessing professional support and resources to aid development from an early age.

Most children will be offered therapies through the NHS but it can often take a while for this support to start and parents may feel that their child would benefit from more regular input.

We offer financial grants for those living in Dorset and surrounding areas (BH or DT postcodes) to subsidise the costs of accessing therapies and resources.  Grants are available for (1) any professional services which are aimed at supporting a child's early development including; physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech & language therapy and music therapy; or (2) resources/equipment which have been recommended by one of your child's professionals (e.g. Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Speech & Language Therapist).

To apply, simply download the Word or PDF Application Form below, complete and send to hello@downrightperfect.org.

DAY TRIPS

Open to members and their siblings of all ages, we organise day trips and offer experiences our members may not otherwise be able to access.

Our recent trips have been to Adventure Wonderland, High Mead Community Farm, Upton Country Park Forest School, The Treehouse, Farmer Palmers and Chessington World of Adventures (with thanks to Merlin's Magic Wand).

We are planning lots more events so keep up to date with our future trips on our Upcoming Events page.

A DOWNRIGHT PERFECT CHRISTMAS

Every year we host a Christmas Party which is open to our members, their siblings and close family.

With entertainment, festive activities, crafts, snacks and a visit from Santa we provide an inclusive opportunity for our families to have some Christmas fun.

WORLD DOWN SYNDROME DAY

Each year around 21st March, being the 21st day of the 3rd month which represents the 3 copies of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome, we come together as a community to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day.

World Down Syndrome Day is hugely important to our members as it provides an opportunity to celebrate our incredible children as a community.  It is also an opportunity to draw attention to the work that is still required to dispel outdated ideas of the potential of people with Down syndrome.
